Photo Week #37
I did two things that made me feel happy and empowered this week. First, I went to the library and got a library card. I wanted to look for new places to study and work that wouldn’t require me buying a coffee or food (lately have felt that caffeine affects me more than it has in the past, which I guess is a good thing but also maybe a getting old thing…?) and although the library is kind of small, walking in and smelling that familiar book smell made me happy. And now I have a library card! I also had my first “Color Immersion” class this past week, which is a class I signed up for on a whim when I got the community arts center class booklet sent to me. The class is less about painting and watercolor technique and more about how to mix and distinguish colors, which I think in the long run is more useful for me than learning how to watercolor. (Anna Bond, I am not.) But I felt very accomplished because by the end of class I could start to see how to adjust colors and add in different colors to get different hues and shades, and was able to sort of match these different reds and purples that our teacher set out as an end-of-class challenge. They look like really pretty lipstick or nail polish colors. I also retook the hue test and got 100% on it so I guess my color IQ is pretty high. Cool.
